Day by Day

Tour Itinerary

Your eight-day Morocco journey begins with a welcome at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, your hotel or another agreed meeting point. Meet your professional driver and begin with a panoramic introduction to Casablanca. Depending on your arrival time, stop near the Hassan II Mosque, an impressive landmark standing beside the Atlantic Ocean. The journey then continues to Rabat, located approximately one hour from Casablanca. After checking into your accommodation, spend time around the Kasbah of the Udayas, the Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. You may also pass the Mechouar and the walls surrounding the Royal Palace area. The evening is free to rest or walk through the centre of Rabat. Approximate driving time: 1 to 2 hours, depending on airport pickup and city traffic Overnight: Rabat

After breakfast, leave Rabat and travel east toward Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Spend time around the historic centre, where stops may include Bab Mansour, Place El Hedim, the old granaries and sections of the city walls. Continue toward Volubilis, Morocco’s best-known Roman archaeological site. Walk among ancient streets, columns, houses, arches and preserved mosaic floors. The route then continues to Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. After arriving in the late afternoon, check into your riad and enjoy the remainder of the evening at your own pace. Approximate driving time: 3 to 4 hours, excluding visits and meal stops Overnight: Fes

Meet your local guide after breakfast and begin a walking visit through the historic medina of Fes. Follow the narrow lanes through traditional neighbourhoods, food markets and artisan workshops where leather, wood, metal, ceramics and textiles are still produced by hand. The visit may include the Bou Inania Madrasa, the exterior of Al Quaraouiyine, historic fountains, caravanserais and panoramic views of the city’s tanneries. Your guide will explain the architecture, craftsmanship and social history of the medina while helping you move through its intricate network of streets. The remainder of the afternoon is free for shopping, additional visits or time at your riad. Overnight: Fes

Leave Fes early in the morning and travel toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, a quiet mountain town known for its alpine-style architecture, gardens and cooler climate. Continue toward the cedar forests near Azrou. Barbary macaques may sometimes be seen in this area, although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. The road continues through mountain landscapes toward Midelt, where a lunch stop can be arranged. After lunch, travel through the Tizi n’Talghomt Pass and descend toward the Ziz Valley. Stop at a viewpoint overlooking palm groves, traditional villages and oasis settlements. Continue through Errachidia and Erfoud before reaching Merzouga in the late afternoon. At the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, meet your camel caravan and ride across the sand as the sun sets. After arriving at the desert camp, enjoy mint tea, settle into your tent and have dinner. The evening usually includes traditional Amazigh music around the fire. Approximate driving time: 7 to 8 hours, excluding visits, meal stops and the camel ride Overnight: Sahara desert camp near Merzouga

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or four-wheel-drive vehicle, where your driver will be waiting. Continue toward Rissani, a traditional market town with a long history connected to regional trade and caravan routes. A short visit may be arranged depending on the day and available time. The road then passes desert settlements, palm groves and rocky landscapes before reaching Tinghir and Todra Gorge. Walk beneath the high limestone cliffs and spend time beside the river. Lunch can be arranged in the area. In the afternoon, continue toward the Dades Valley. The route passes villages, kasbahs, cultivated fields and the rock formations often known as the Monkey Fingers. Arrive at your hotel or riad in the Dades area for dinner and overnight accommodation. Approximate driving time: 4 to 5 hours, excluding visits and meal stops Overnight: Dades Valley

After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and continue through the landscapes of southern Morocco. Pass through Kalaat M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses before reaching the palm groves and historic kasbahs around Skoura. Continue to Ouarzazate, a city closely associated with Morocco’s film industry. Depending on the schedule, a panoramic stop can be made near Taourirt Kasbah or one of the film studios. The next visit is Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village built with traditional earthen architecture. Walk through the ksar and take in the views across the surrounding valley. After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Several stops can be made for photographs and short breaks. Arrive in Marrakech during the late afternoon or evening and check into your riad. Approximate driving time: 6 to 7 hours, excluding visits and meal stops Overnight: Marrakech

Meet your local guide after breakfast and begin a full-day visit of Marrakech. The morning may include Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, traditional neighbourhoods and the exterior of the Koutoubia Mosque. Continue through the medina and its souks, where artisans work with leather, metal, wood, textiles, ceramics and spices. In the afternoon, time may be arranged for Majorelle Garden, subject to ticket availability and advance reservation. The guided visit ends around Jemaa el-Fnaa, where food stalls, musicians and performers create a different atmosphere as evening approaches. The rest of the evening is free. Overnight: Marrakech

After breakfast, leave Marrakech and travel toward Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. The departure time will be arranged according to your flight schedule, allowing sufficient time for the motorway journey, check-in and airport procedures. For a comfortable transfer, an afternoon or evening flight is recommended. Travelers with an early morning departure should consider spending the previous night in Casablanca. Your private drop-off at the airport marks the end of the tour. Approximate driving time: 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes, depending on traffic
